INDIA INITIATES TESTING OF ITS HYPERSONIC WEAPON - 47,460 views - 18 Jun 2019
India has conducted its first ever test of a hypersonic weapon.
The Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV) developed by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) was launched on 12 Jun 2019.
DRDO is the research and development arm of India's military.
An official DRDO statement stated, “The missile was successfully launched at 1127 Hours. Various radars, telemetry stations, and electro optical tracking sensors tracked the vehicle through its course. The data has been collected and will be analysed to validate the critical technologies.”
As per reports HSTDV will be capable of reaching speeds in excess of Mach 6.5
