Trekking in India: a whole new perspective

*WORTH WATCHING...*

*Trekking in India: a Whole New Perspective*

When you think of the Himalayas, you think of pristine mountains, not plastic waste. But the more tourism grows on our mountains, the more waste pollution there is. Soft drink bottles, chocolate wrappers, wet wipes, biscuit wrapping, sanitary pads… dropped on the wayside, shoved in tree nooks, thrown on beautiful meadows.

No, that’s not how we imagine the Himalayas. So, the team that’s taking the most number of trekkers up to the mountains decided to do something drastic about it.

To start with, they got the trekkers to pick up garbage, i.e., become human vacuum cleaners.

Over the last 8 years, they’ve grown from collecting two sacks of garbage a year to collecting 2 tons. Wow!

But, that’s just the start of their efforts. Here’s the story of India Hikes and a small team fighting hard to keep the Himalayas pristine for us. Here’s taking you on a Green Trail.
